- Nairobi County Government has declared Uhuru Park out of bounds for members of the public or any group planning to hold meetings.
- In a public notice issued on Tuesday, January 23, the government stated that Uhuru Park is closed until further notice.
- This comes barely a week before the very publicized Swearing-in ceremony planned by NASA.
Nairobi County Government has declared Uhuru Park closed indefinitely for members of the public or any group planning to hold meetings there.
“Notice is hereby given to the general public that Uhuru Park is scheduled to undergo phase improvement works in order to enhance recreational usefulness to its visitors,” the notice read.
This announcement comes just a week before the very publicized and anticipated swearing-in ceremony planned by NASA for Raila odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
This move by Nairobi County government has raised eyebrows since the National Super Alliance have been planning to hold their ceremony on the public grounds for sometime.

There have been conflicting reports on whether NASA had changed their venue but in an earlier post, the NASA CEO, Norman Nyaga, said that the venue remains to be Uhuru Park.
Two other groups had booked the venue for the same day , interestingly. One of the being the Nairobi Business Community with claims that they were planning to hold a medical camp to provide free circumcision services to street children.
